17% Gain in 8 Weeks

Although it's been a week ago today, I decided I would blog about my strength test.

Recall back on October 29th I had my first strength test. It showed that my left quad had a 12% deficit from my right quad and my left hamstring had a 31% deficit from my right hamstring. Horrible results for that being 21 weeks(5 months) since surgery. My doctor had wanted me to wait about three weeks and have it done again. But, at $150 a pop, I waited a little longer- 8 weeks to be exact.

I was surprised and happy about the results from last week. Surprised because my left leg didn't feel that much different and happy because I am closer to being fully released. This time I only had a 14% deficit in my left hamstring and my left quad was actually 5% STRONGER than my right quad. Of course, I consider myself "behind" since I am at 7 months post-op and not fully released yet.

My surgery/rehab paperwork says that there needs to be less than a 10% deficit to begin the final phase of rehab- agility, cutting, planting drills. So, I'm ALOT closer than I was 2 months ago.

I am still waiting to hear from my doctor. He usually calls right away, but I guess he's celebrating the holidays like everyone else.

In the meantime, I am going to get back to playing video games, which are probably a GREAT rehab tool since they include alot of balancing and weight-shifting. This is what I got for Christmas:
